The objective of this course is to discuss how to analyze our decision making skills in regards to legal and ethical concerns when undertaking the dental care of our patients on a day to day basis.
This unique course is divided into morning and afternoon sessions taught by attorneys John Bagley, Partner at Morrison Mahoney Law Firm and Joseph Regan, Partner at Regan Kiely Law Firm. The morning session will consist of a review of several cases as well as providing background information of other legal cases. There will be a discussion of the issues and concerns of the care that was provided, along with case outcomes. The afternoon session will comprise a Mock Trial. The Mock Trial will be based on a modification of an actual case and by utilizing the information provided in the morning session program participants will be able to experience the workings of a Mock Trial related to the evidence provided. Audience members will also be encouraged to ask questions and use the material they were provided in order to better understand the concept of risk management for the Mock Trial. The participants will include attorneys, Fellows of the American College who will serve as the patient, as well as the expert witnesses and of course another attorney to serve as the Judge.
The cost of the course is $250.00 and includes Continental breakfast and lunch. Eight (8) CEUs will be provided through EDIC for participants who attend this all-day course. HURRY, as there are only 96 seats available for this course!
